Continuing Partnership for Special Schools

EdisonLearning - Continuing partnership for special schools

The beginning of the year saw our family of special schools commit to continuing partnership for another three years. The Special School Partnership began in 2005 when Chelmsford New Model Special School (now Columbus School) and Pioneer School in Basildon, began to work with Dr. Allan Sigston, EdisonLearning's Head of Research, to modify the Design for School Improvement to reflect the needs of special schools for learners with severe and complex difficulties.

The Power of Collaborative Autonomy. Schools working together is nothing new. There are plenty of examples that evidence the educational benefits that result from federation and less formal partnerships, but never has there been as much focus on the formation of groups of schools as there is today.

The group of schools and academies who have chosen to work with EdisonLearning form a quite unique group. They do not represent any particular geography - our partner schools spread from Kent to Cheshire. They do not represent any particular phase or type of school - we work with primary, secondary and special schools. We work with community and foundation schools, we work with academies, we work with C of E schools, Catholic schools, and schools with no particular faith affiliation.
