Progress towards these goals is monitored through a range of internal and mechanisms, including:
1. 'Hard' Measures:
- Ofsted Judgements
- Performance in national assessments (SATS performance, GCSE 5 A*-C, Contextual Value Add)
- Attendance and exclusion data
- Assessment of quality of teaching
- Achievement of specific contractual performance targets
2. 'Soft' Measures:
- Annual head teacher survey results
- Student and staff attitudes
- Parental opinions and engagement
- Progress towards partnership objectives
Ofsted Judgements
EdisonLearning has helped schools in categories to improve to achieve satisfactory judgements and better. Good schools have also been supported to achieve outstanding judgements.
Futures Community College
As Thorpe Bay High School, Futures Community College had been in Special Measures for more than five years when EdisonLearning were engaged by the Local Authority and the DFES (as was), to support the new head teacher to bring about a lasting transformation in outcomes for young people. The school came out of Special Measures fourteen months later, and progressed to become a Pathfinder Trust School providing specialist provision in vocational learning to the local community.
Hamilton Primary School
Hamilton has been one of the highest performing schools in Essex for many years. It has always been popular with parents and has enjoyed an excellent reputation. However, the head teacher and governors recognised that success would not be sustained without ongoing investment in school improvement - and so EdisonLearning were appointed. In the summer of 2008, the school were judged to be Outstanding by inspectors.
