It is possibly the one area in current educational debate that there is general agreement on – teachers make a difference, and great teachers make a great difference. But in schools of all types, one of the most significant challenges Head Teachers face is in ensuring that teaching consistently meets the highest quality standards – in all subjects, to all students, at all times.
EdisonLearning’s Quality Framework for Learning and Teaching provides a comprehensive programme to enable any school to address this challenge with the aim of:
- Increasing the consistency of teaching quality across the school
- Improving the overall standard of teaching
- Creating a school-specific quality-assured approach to the monitoring and development of outstanding teaching and learning
The Quality Framework for Learning and Teaching is the outcome of extensive research into acknowledged best practice conducted by EdisonLearning over the past seven years. The resources which support the Quality Framework have been developed in collaboration with EdisonLearning’s partner schools in Northampton Town and Thurrock, and with a group of special schools in Essex.
What is the Quality Framework for Learning and Teaching?
The Quality Framework for Learning and Teaching is two things;
- It is a process, supported by training and coaching, through which a school can audit and analyse the quality of teaching and learning, and plan future strategies and behaviours to ensure that the most effective learning takes place.
- It is a set of resources and a toolkit which can be used flexibly to assist a school, department or individual staff members to reflect on their professional behaviour and practice and support individual, group and organisational professional development.
The process of working through the Quality Framework will be different for every school, depending on their starting position and their goals for the project, and, of course the process of improving the quality of learning and teaching is never finished. However, we have designed the process so that it can be easily implemented in less than two terms.
Who is the Quality Framework for Learning and Teaching for?
The Quality Framework for Learning and Teaching has been designed to meet the needs of all schools and all teachers and has been successfully implemented in primary, secondary and special schools. It can be implemented on an individual schools basis, but it is particularly appropriate for networks and clusters of schools seeking to develop a consistent group-wide approach to improving the quality of learning and teaching.
