Quality Framework for Learning and Teaching

So what would it be like if every child in your school experienced outstanding lessons from great teachers every day?

It is possibly the one area in current educational debate that there is general agreement on – teachers make a difference, and great teachers make a great difference. But in schools of all types, one of the most significant challenges Head Teachers face is in ensuring that teaching consistently meets the highest quality standards – in all subjects, to all students, at all times.

EdisonLearning’s Quality Framework for Learning and Teaching provides a comprehensive programme to enable any school to address this challenge with the aim of:

  • Increasing the consistency of teaching quality across the school
  • Improving the overall standard of teaching
  • Creating a school-specific quality-assured approach to the monitoring and development of outstanding teaching and learning

The Quality Framework for Learning and Teaching is the outcome of extensive research into acknowledged best practice conducted by EdisonLearning over the past seven years. The resources which support the Quality Framework have been developed in collaboration with EdisonLearning’s partner schools in Northampton Town and Thurrock, and with a group of special schools in Essex.

The detailed grids and behaviours allow teachers to make sense of Ofsted judgements and translate these into accessible strategies to improve their own practice.

Through the inbuilt coaching methodology, we have already seen significant impact in improving the quality of learning and teaching and thus outcomes for students at classroom, faculty and whole school level."

As a result of the leaders’ focus on equality, there are no variations in the progress made by any groups of pupils, including those with learning difficulties and/or disabilities"

What we have produced together is practical and manageable in the context of a busy school life and it provides heads and governors with a really powerful resource to help meet the demands of proposed inspection changes"

"We are wholeheartedly committed to working with our partners in schools to produce the tools and resources they need to meet the demands of the emerging education landscape.

"We are wholeheartedly committed to working with our partners in schools to produce the tools and resources they need to meet the demands of the emerging education landscape.

The Quality Framework for Learning and Teaching is a particularly exciting development for us as it is the first of a new set of professional toolkits for schools which really get to the heart of the things that heads and governors are held accountable for.

Future Quality Frameworks which will be released later this year will further develop this concept to provide Head teachers with the tools they need to meet these demands in a manageable and coherent manner. Our job is to provide heads with the tools they need so that they can focus on their core task – of leading their school to sustainable success."
