Innovative Approaches to Inspire the Improvement of any Primary School.

EdisonLearning works in collaboration with primary schools to help bring about a lasting improvement against the key measures that define school success.

Our work is forged from extensive research into the factors that characterise outstanding primary schools and the processes that lead to sustainable school improvement. Our work brings together 3 key ingredients of organisational transformation to provide real certainty to the process of implementing whole-school improvement.

  • Innovative tools and resources to enable school improvement
  • Coherent, outcome-driven programmes to help manage school-wide change
  • Consistent support and challenge over time from highly credible and experienced educational advisers

Our partner schools represent a wide cross section of primary, from small rural schools to large urban and special schools. Some face the challenges of low achievement and expectation while others seek a means for sustaining and further improving already outstanding performance. What they all share is a recognition of the benefits that partnership and collaboration can offer and a determination to become 'destination primary schools' for learners, communities and teachers.

A successful and imaginative development is to use visits strategically to begin each topic. This “kicks starts” each pupil’s interest with a chance to learn through direct, practical experience. This is a key element in helping pupils who speak English as an additional language.’

The school is well into the development of an integrated curriculum where broad themes or topics are chosen to draw on pupils’ interests. Pupils were enthralled when they created animation films in the computer room, for example. A good range of well-attended after-school clubs, visits and visitors further enhance the curriculum.”

Using this information, staff quickly identify pupils in need of support and those who would benefit from having their work extended or learning accelerated.”
